Ballot Measures

Proposition 1

May 4, 2019 Texas Municipal Joint Elections
Description:

The reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of Helotes, Texas at the rate of one-fourth of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.

A vote FOR Proposition 1 would allow for the continuation of funding, specifically dedicated for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets, for a four (4) year period taking effect on April 1, 2020 and expiring on March 31, 2024. The funding may only be used to maintain and repair municipal streets and sidewalks that existed on the date of the election to adopt the tax. It may not be used to build new streets.

A vote AGAINST Proposition 1 would allow for the expiration of the local sales and use tax and decrease funding for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets. If a majority of the votes cast in this election do not favor the reauthorization of the tax, the City may not call an election on the question of authorizing a new tax until after April 1, 2021.

The reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of Helotes, Texas at the rate of one-fourth of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets. The tax expires on the fourth anniversary of the date of this election unless the imposition of the tax is reauthorized.
