This primary election is only for residents of Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties. The Sarasota and Manatee sections include Newtown, Tallevast, downtown Bradenton and most of Palmetto. The election is to replace former State Rep. Frank Peterman, D-St. Petersburg, who resigned to become the new secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. No Republicans have filed to run in the race.
